KODAK, Tenn. (AP) -- Luis Valenzuela, Travis Demeritte and Connor Lien each had three hits, as the Mississippi Braves beat the Tennessee Smokies 9-5 on Thursday.

Demeritte was a triple short of the cycle, scoring a couple of runs while also driving home two.

Mississippi scored in six different innings in the victory, including the eighth, when Demeritte hit a two-run home run.

Elian Leyva (2-0) got the win in relief while Scott Effross (0-2) took the loss in the Southern League game.

Ian Rice homered and doubled, driving in three runs and scoring a pair for the Smokies.
