Gillette College Button

The Gillette College women’s team dominated the competition over the weekend to easily win the Lamar (Colo.) Community College Rodeo.

Taylour Latham won both the breakaway roping and the goat tying and Rickie Engesser won the barrel racing as the Pronghorns finished with 750 points in the third Central Rocky Mountain Region rodeo of the season. In addition, Gillette College’s Riley Addington was fourth in barrel racing while Quincy Segelke was second and Callie Robinson fourth in breakaway.

Eastern Wyoming College was a distant second with 185 points and the University of Wyoming was third with 155.

On the men’s side, Central Wyoming College saddle bronc rider Bray Thurston tied for first place and the Rustlers had three of the top-five finishers in the steer wrestling to win the rodeo with 320 points. Thurston and Otero Junior College’s Mason Mardesich each finished with 148 points on two head to tie for top honors in saddle bronc. CWC’s Jace Berger, Daniel Huxtable and Taylor Davidson went 3-4-5 in the steer wrestling and Thomas Davis was fourth in bareback bronc riding.

Chadron State College and Gillette College tied for second with 305 points and Sheridan College was fourth with 300.

Other event winners were: Sheridan College’s Hunter Carlson in bareback, Wyoming’s Coby Lane in bull riding, Chadron State College’s Kalen Anders in steer wrestling and Northeastern Junior College’s Jack Staudt in tie-down roping. In team roping, the duo of Gillette College’s Jon Peterson and UW’s JC Flack tied UW’s Denton and Dusty Taylor for the top spot.

The CRMR continues this weekend in Riverton at CWC’s Rustler Roundup.
