The University of Wyoming volleyball team learned its postseason fate late Sunday, as the Cowgirls were not selected for the NCAA Tournament and will instead play in the 2017 National Invitational Volleyball Championship.

The Cowgirls (17-13) discovered they will face TCU (11-16) in the first round of the NIVC at North Texas. The match is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m on Thursday afternoon.

Wyoming landed in the North Texas bracket and, with a win, would advance to play the winner between North Texas (28-3) and Oral Roberts (15-13).

The NIVC consists of 32 teams and participating schools host all matches.

This is the fifth postseason appearance for the Cowgirls in program history and first since 1994. All of their previous postseason appearances were in the NCAA Tournament, going 2-4 all-time in the tournament.
