After just the first day of the NCAA Wrestling Championships, Wyoming sat 28th in the standings with six points.

Bryce Meredith was the only Cowboy to win both of his championship round matches while Drew Templeman and Branson Ashworth both lost their second matches of the day and will begin Friday with wrestlebacks.

Cole Mendenhall and Archie Colgan, the only other Cowboys to advance to the national meet, both lost their first-round matches before winning their only matches of the day in the consolation round.

Meredith will continue his quest for that elusive national championship when matches resume on Friday and continue through Saturday in St. Louis, Missouri.
