The University of Wyoming track and field teams begin their indoor seasons on Friday by hosting the annual Power Meet. Both Cowboys and Cowgirls will compete against the University of Colorado and University of Northern Colorado inside War Memorial Fieldhouse.

Last year at the event, Kelly Walsh graduate Jerayah Davis broke the War Memorial Fieldhouse record in the 55-meter dash (6.73 seconds) and shattered the school record in the 60-meter dash (7.25). Scott Carter used the 2016 Power Meet as a launching pad, winning in the triple jump before going on to win both indoor and outdoor conference championships to go along with a bronze medal at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships.

There will be 21 new athletes among both Wyoming track and field teams. Field events are scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. while track events get underway at 5:30 p.m.
