The Wyoming football team's first late-night game of the season has been set. The Mountain West and ESPN announced Monday that the Cowboys' Sept. 23 game against Hawaii will kick off at 8:15 p.m. Mountain Time. The game will be televised on ESPN2.
Wyoming and Hawaii have played 22 times before, with Wyoming winning 13 of those games. The two teams play for the traveling Paniolo Trophy. "Paniolo" is the Hawaiian word for Cowboy.
The game will be the Cowboys' first Mountain West contest of the season. Wyoming's opening three games had 10 a.m., 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. Mountain Time kickoffs. Wyoming has no other games on its schedule slated for a kickoff after 5 p.m. Mountain Time. Last year, Wyoming had six such games in the regular season. However, start times for four games on ESPN Networks have not yet been announced.
The Hawaii game will also be Ag Day and Military Appreciation Day at Wyoming.
