The 2018 Mountain West Outdoor Track & Field Championships began late Thursday with the distance races, and Wyoming redshirt freshman Christopher Henry placed eighth in the men's 10,000-meter run at the Clovis, California, Veterans Memorial Stadium.

The time 30 minutes, 24.52 seconds by the Laramie native was the fastest among all freshmen.

The Cowgirls also competed in the 10,000, where sophomore Ashley Bock finished 12th and senior Quinn DeStefano (Gillette) took 13th.

Henry's top-eight finish gave the Cowboys a point before the sprints and field events got underway on Friday.
