Bailee Cotton finished with a career-high 17 points and 12 rebounds to help the Wyoming Cowgirls snap a three-game losing streak Sunday with a 61-53 home win against Idaho State.

The Cowgirls ended their skid with a fast start by jumping out to a 17-4 lead with 3 minutes remaining in the first quarter. Wyoming kept Idaho State at a distance for the rest of the game. The Bengals closed the gap in the fourth quarter by trimming the lead down to just seven points — the closest it had been since it was 10-4 midway through the first quarter — with less than a minute remaining.

Contributing to the Idaho State comeback were the Cowgirls’ struggles from the free throw line. They combined to go 24-for-36 from the stripe.

Junior Marta Gomez scored 16 off the bench, accounting for the majority of the Cowgirls’ bench points. Wyoming’s non-starters outscored Idaho State’s 27-7.

Senior standouts Liv Roberts and Natalie Baker both struggled from the field, scoring just two points each.
