Jordan Kelley, who starred for Gillette before finishing her playing career at the University of Wyoming, was honored as the nation's top assistant high school coach by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association on Friday.

Kelley, the 2015 Mountain West Newcomer of the Year, played only 11 games for the Cowgirls last year before suffering a season-ending knee injury.

She was an assistant coach at Regis Jesuit High School in Colorado this year and helped lead the team to a 20-7 record and a berth in the Class 5A semifinals.
