The University of Wyoming women's basketball team was picked to finish second in the Mountain West preseason poll released Wednesday.

The Cowgirls received six first-place votes and 216 total points to sit just behind Boise State, which had 221 points, with seven first-place votes. Colorado State was third with 211 points, followed by New Mexico (186), UNLV (185), Utah State (136), Fresno State (117), San Diego State (102), San Jose State (61), Nevada (60) and Air Force (29).

UW senior Liv Roberts, an all-conference selection last season, was named to the preseason all-MW team. Joining her on the team are Boise State's Shalen Shaw; Fresno State's Candice White; New Mexico's Cherise Benyon, the preseason player of the year; and San Diego State's McKynzie Fort.
