Senior Bryce Meredith placed third at the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational on Saturday to lead the University of Wyoming wrestling team to a ninth-place finish.

Competing at 141 pounds, Meredith (Cheyenne Central) lost 4-2 in overtime to Cornell's Yianni Diakomihalis in the semifinals, but battled back to beat Central Michigan's Mason Smith 7-3 and then earned a 5-3 decision over Nebraska's Chad Reed Jr. in the third-place match.

Colgan, competing at 157, won his first two matches Saturday by major decision before falling 6-4 to Nebraska's Tyler Berger. In the fifth-place match, Colgan decisioned Cal State Bakersfield's Coleman Hammond 6-4.

Wyoming totaled 61 points for the meet, finishing just behind Cornell (62). Ohio State won the meet with 155.5 points.

The Cowboys return to action Dec. 9 for a dual at Iowa State.
