Class 5A

n NATRONA COUNTY 47, CHEYENNE EAST 7: At Cheyenne on Friday, the Mustangs racked up big plays on offense, defense and special teams to knock off the Thunderbirds.

"I was just really proud of our guys," NC coach Steve Harshman said. "We had a complete game. We played smart and physical, Mustang football."

Tom Earl scored twice for the Mustangs (3-2) on a pair of 3-yard runs and finished with 16 carries for 104 yards. Ryan Murphy completed 13 of 20 passes for 160 yards and ran for a 1-yard score and also threw a 7-yard touchdown to Brice Parkhill.

The TD pass to Parkhill came in the first 10 seconds of the third quarter to make it 28-0; less than two minutes later, the NC defense tacked on a safety after a wild punt snap by East (3-1).

Garrett Hill added a 36-yard field goal, and Zach Powell closed the quarter with a 53-yard punt return for a touchdown. In the fourth quarter, Cole Montgomery scored on an 8-yard run for the final margin.

Mongomery finished as the Mustangs' leading receiver, catching 4 passes for 61 yards.

John Potter led East, carrying 12 times for 42 yards and completing 6 of 19 passes for 35 yards. He also scored the lone touchdown for East on a 9-yard run in the third quarter.

Defensively, Chris Honken led NC with 20 points and Parkhill added 15. The Mustangs out-gained the Thunderbirds 277-136.

"We haven't played our best football yet," Harshman said. "We have the chance to be a very good football team."

n SHERIDAN 49, GILLETTE 21: At Sheridan on Friday, Austin Woodward was in on 4 touchdowns for the Broncs as they blew open a close game at halftime with 34 second-half points.

Woodward scored on runs of 39 and 1 yard and also had an interception return and a 12-yard touchdown pass to Will Hendrickson for Sheridan (3-1, 2-0 North). Justin Will added a 92-yard kick return ofr a touchdown and a 63-yard run for another score, and Scott Alltop scored on a 69-yard run.

Sheridan ran 25 times for 295 yards, led by Woodward's 9 carries for 133 yards. Alltop carried 4 times for 81 yards and Will had 6 carries for 79 yards.

Woodward was 10-of-14 passing for 78 yards.

Logan Pokallus led the Camels (3-2, 0-1), carrying 35 times for 143 yards. Alan Sisel was 12-of-29 for 119 passing yards and scored on a 1-yard touchdown run. Alex Coolidge also scored on a 1-yard run and Justin Fullenwider scored on a 92-yard kickoff return.

Defensively, Logan Martinez led Sheridan with 16 points. The Broncs led 15-13 at halfime, then scored 13 in the third and 21 in the fourth to put it away.

Class 4A

n CODY 12, JACKSON 0: At Cody on Friday, the host Broncs forced 5 turnovers from the visiting Broncs, a key part of their West Conference victory.

Cody (3-2, 2-0 West) also piled up 305 rushing yards, led by Dayton McMillan's 20 carries for 156 yards. McMillan scored on a 35-yard run in the fourth quarter to cap the scoring.

Matt Frost also scored for Cody on a 22-yard pass from Landon Blanchard in the first quarter. Eric Dickerman led the Cody defense with 19 points; Cody held Jackson (2-2, 1-2) to 99 rushing yards.

Sean McDonald had 16 defensive points for Jackson.

Class 3A

n PINEDALE 27, BIG PINEY 0: At Pinedale on Friday, Nick Jaquez tossed a pair of touchdown passes and ran for another as the Wranglers beat the Punchers.

Jaquez ran a 2-yard score and threw 35-yard touchdown passes to Aaron Milne and Chase Lederer for Pinedale (2-2, 2-0 West). Landon Wells also scored on a 6-yard blocked punt return; Luke Egle broke through to block the punt to set up the score.

Jaquez finished 8-of-14 for 156 yards, while Lederer had 3 grabs for 93 yards. Dylan Nelson contributed 19 carries for 114 yards.

Defensively, Egle finished with 29 points and Milne had a pair of interceptions. Big Piney (0-4, 0-1) only managed 15 rushing yards and 21 passing yards; Pinedale finished with 155 rushing yards and 208 yards in the air.

Class 2A

n LUSK 39, LINGLE 14: At Lingle on Friday, Chad Trautman scored 3 touchdowns as the Tigers won the East Conference showdown with the Doggers.

Trautman scored on runs of 4, 48 and 3 yards for Lusk (4-0, 3-0 East). Trent Johnson also scored on a 16-yard run and Jerit DeGering added a 4-yard touchdown run.

Alan Hill scored both touchdowns for Lingle (2-2, 1-2), one on a 39-yard run and the other on a 75-yard kick return. He finished with 13 carries for 107 yards. Defensively, Chase Potter racked up 10 tackles and 3 assists and Theron Hageman had 9 tackles.

Class 1A

n BURLINGTON 40, HANNA 0: At Burlington on Friday, the Huskies piled up 281 rushing yards and scored all of their points in the first half in the West Conference victory over the Miners.

Spencer Flores and Justin Preator each scored twice for the Huskies (3-1, 2-0 West), Flores on runs of 15 and 20 yards and Preator on a 12-yard run and a 5-yard pass from Mycheal Wiles. Landon Peterson also scored on a 12-yard run and Wesley Neves added an 8-yard rushing score.

Shawn Christiansen led Burlington with 4 carries for 79 yards; Neves finished with 11 carries for 57 yards and Flores had 4 for 51. The Huskies finished with 329 yards of total offense.

Defensively, Burlington held Hanna (1-3, 1-1) to 55 rushing yards and 5 passing yards.
