Eight Wyoming high school football players earned their third all-state team recognition as chosen by the Wyoming Coaches Association earlier this week.

Two schools had two players apiece named to the all-state team for the third consecutive year, as Glenrock's Casey Hoskinson and Ryan Lee and Cokeville's Sullivan Teichert and Andrew Petersen all made their respective all-state squads in 2006, 2007 and 2008.

Powell's Gavin Mills, Newcastle's Matt Gregory, Wright's Duncan Jones and Burns' Duell Petsch also earned their third consecutive all-state recognition.

As usual, the state champions led the all-state choices in all five classifications.

Gillette led the Class 5A first-team all-state choices with 11 players selected to 12 different positions; senior Spencer Bruce was named first-team all-state at both wide receiver and defensive end.

Cheyenne Central's Brad Ramsey was a first-team selection at both running back and kicker, Green River's Drew Martinez was named a first-teamer as both a quarterback and a defensive back, Natrona County's Max Gustafson was a first-team pick as both an offensive lineman and defensive end and teammate Zach Powell was a first-team selection as both a defensive back and kick returner.

Class 5A is the only classification that lists its all-state choices by position.

Ramsey, Evanston's Cory Anthos, Green River's Andrew Meredith and Natrona County's Tommy Earl were repeat first-team selections. Meredith was the coaches' unanimous pick as the defensive player of the year.

Both state champion Douglas, runner-up Buffalo and West Conference champion Cody each had six players named to the Class 4A all-state team. Cody Bohlander of Douglas earned his second all-state selection, while the Bison's Dan Long, Tyler Gibbs and Robby Trabing were also named to the all-state team for the second year in a row. Mills was the only other holdover from previous all-state teams.

Glenrock had seven all-state choices in Class 3A, including Hoskinson, Lee and 2007 holdover Taylor McIntyre. State runner-up Kemmerer had six all-state picks. Three teams had a pair of repeat selections, as Lovell held over Grant Geiser and Steven Durtsche from the 2007 squad, Newcastle had three-year pick Gregory and 2007 repeat selection Nick Pisciotti named to this year's team, and Mountain View had repeat selections Chris Maldonado and Zach Brown. Jones and Thermopolis' Dan Norskog were also selected again this year.

State champ Burns led the Class 2A choices with six players, led by Petsch. Runner-up Big Horn had seniors repeat selections Matt Metzger and Tim Mendoza as part of its five all-state choices. Lusk's Kyle Herder and C.J. Risley, Lingle's Alan Hill, Riverside's Matt Craft, Saratoga's Chad McKinney and Wind River's Justin Whitt also earned their second all-state selections.

Southeast fronted the Class 1A selections with seven, including repeat picks Justin Briggs, Trevor Ross and Steven Bullington. Runner-up Burlington had six choices and Hulett had five, including second-time choice Leland Pfeifer. Guernsey's Rage Geringer also earned his second all-state spot.
