Alpine skiers will take to Casper Mountain for the Kelly Walsh Invitational this weekend as schools from around the state will converge just south of Casper at the Hogadon Ski Area.

Cody, Jackson, Laramie and Pinedale, as well as the Trojans’ cross-town rival, Natrona, will compete in the only alpine meet Casper hosts this season. First run is scheduled to start at 9:30 a.m. on both Friday and Saturday at 9:30 a.m. both today and Saturday.

The Jackson girls will be led by juniors Abby Walker (defending state champion) and Mary Margaret Grassell (defending state runner-up). The Broncs will also be the favorites on the boys side, led by defending state runner-up, senior Ben Klausmann.

Pinedale’s Nick Novak is also expected to compete, meaning the returning state champion in both boys and girls will be racing this weekend.

Natrona and Kelly Walsh are expected to return some notable performers from last season. Senior Tori Strom leads the Trojans while Frank Allen returns for Natrona. Taylor Maese is the top boys returner for Kelly Walsh and Leron Corson leads the Mustangs.
