CLASS 2A PREVIEW

DEFENDING CHAMP: Wright.

TEAM TO BEAT: Sundance.

The Bulldogs are 25-4, with only two of those losses coming to in-state teams — Green River and Wright. Sundance returns six starters from last year’s runner-up squad, including all-state selections Teila McInerney and Molly O’Connor. In other words, the Bulldogs are poised to break their 11-year state championship drought.

IN THE MIX: Wright, Greybull, Big Piney.

The Panthers (22-8) might not be as strong as in previous years, but the three-time defending state champs have two returning all-state players in juniors Kindall Seamands and Grace Trandahl and the only 2A team to beat them this season was Sundance. ... The Buffaloes (22-5) don’t like to mess around on the court as 19 of their wins were sweeps. They’re looking to win their first state title since 1988. ... The Punchers (20-7) are unbeaten against 2A competition this season — losing just four sets — and swept their way to the West Regional title.

BEST QUARTERFINAL MATCH: No. 3E Big Horn vs. No. 2W Greybull, 2:30 p.m., today. Not only is this the first meeting between the teams this season, but they haven’t played each other at state since 1999.
