Saddle bronc rider Brody Cress from Hillsdale had an 84-point ride Thursday at the Cheyenne Frontier Days Rodeo to sit second in the second round and move into second in the average.

Cress has a two-head total of 167.5 points, putting him just behind Jake Wright, who leads the second round with an 85 and the average with a 168.

Lance Creek's Colton Miller is fourth in the average with a 164.

Also Thursday, Scott Guenther grabbed the average lead in steer wrestling with a two-run time of 16.9 seconds. Cheyenne's Beau Clark is tied for second with a 20.8.

Laramie's Carla Beckett and Taci Bettis are tied for the second round lead in barrel racing with a time of 17.44 seconds.

The CFD runs through Sunday.
