Sheridan’s Jeffery Zdziarski moved into contention for the bareback bronc riding title at the National High School Finals Rodeo on Friday morning with a 58-point ride, which put him fourth in the average with a two-ride score of 130 points.

The second go-round of the NHSFR finishes Saturday morning at the Sweetwater Events Complex in Rock Springs, with the finals taking place Saturday night.

Zdziarski leads a strong Wyoming contingent in the roughstock events. Hillsdale’s Brody Cress, who scored 76 points in the saddle bronc riding Wednesday night, continues to lead the second go-round and is eighth in the average. In bull riding, Bryce Burnell of Arvada is sixth in the second go with a 67 and third in the average with a two-ride total of 143.

In addition, Buffalo’s Casey Sellers is third in the second go of steer wrestling with a time of 4.51 seconds and the tandem of Cam Irwin (Buffalo) and Weston Mann (Sheridan) is fourth in the team roping average with a two-run time of 19.55 seconds.

Wheatland’s Chloe Ashenhurst is third in the second go and fourth in the average in pole bending, with Laramie’s Abbea Faris third in the second go in breakaway roping.

Wyoming is seventh in the boys team standings, while the girls team is 12th. Overall, Wyoming is eighth.
