1. Arizona State Stunning ascent can't get any higher for Sun Devils, but staying power will be tested at Oregon
2. Boston College Heisman hype might be overblown considering Matt Ryan's struggles with Hokies, but finish was bronze-worthy
3. Ohio State Happy (Valley) returns for Buckeyes, but what exactly does win prove against a .500 team in the Tiny Ten?
4. LSU You might hear a little about the Bayou Bengals this week - it's the return of Chevis Jackson to sweet home Alabama
5. Oklahoma Newsletter excerpt from coach Fran: We're totally overmatched this week
6. Oregon The Ducks can make a statement this week and continue to distance themselves from those missed inches earlier this season
7. Kansas How much longer can this go on? Basketball season is starting
8. Missouri Forget Ryan, Woodson and Tebow - Chase Daniel might just be the nation's best QB
9. West Virginia Suddenly Mountaineers are back in title talk, and some guy named Pat White is rolling
10. Georgia It's not officially a cocktail party anymore, but I doubt there were many thirsty Dawgs on Saturday
11. Alabama Already looking for more info on this game? Apparently 'Bama coach Nick Saban has some sort of ties to LSU
12. Michigan From the hot seat to coach of the year? Don't laugh, it could happen
13. Virginia Tech The vaunted Hokies defense can only hold on for so long without any help
14. Boise State Broncos aren't even doing it with Ian Johnson or with laterals on every fourth quarter play
15. Florida Contrary to popular belief, Tim Tebow isn't the equivalent of 11 offensive players -- shocking
16. Tennessee Put the Vols back in, take the Vols back out, do the hokey-Smokey and turn it all around ...
17. BYU No test this week, but Horned Frogs, Utes and Cowboys are lined up in November
18. Connecticut Jim Calhoun is doing such a great job with those Huskies, isn't he?
19. Auburn When the rest of the SEC catches up with three losses, Tigers will look much better
20. Hawaii Warriors have received all the help a mid-major needs to go BCS bowling, but unfortunately they're not that good
21. South Carolina There weren't many punch-lines from the Ball Coach after this visit to Neyland
22. New Mexico Quietly playing perhaps the MWC's best football, and wishing for a mulligan against Cougars
23. Wisconsin Another Tiny Ten comeback that might be exposed as a fraud by Buckeyes
24. Kentucky LSU win is losing its legs after dreadful loss to Mississippi State
25. Texas 'Horns still looking up at Oklahoma State in Big 12 South standings, but it's hard to imagine them losing again
Others receiving notes: Finally Virginia looked like the team that was totally outclassed in Laramie. So long, Cavaliers ... The Tommy Bowden of the West has almost completely finished his collapse at Cal this season. Adios, Bears ... Utah is playing every bit as well as the Lobos right now, but it'll be hard to forget about a shutout in Sin City after seeing the Rebels run flat in Laramie.
