Kenny G signed with Arista Records in 1982 after years of playing with groups such as Barry White's Love Unlimited Orchestra and Jeff Lorber Fusion, according to his Web site. His break came on The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson in 1988. A producer insisted Kenny G perform with a vocalist, but the artist wanted to establish himself with an instrumental piece. His album "Breathless" became the biggest selling instrumental record in U.S. history and featured the Grammy-winning single "Forever in Love." The holiday compilation "Miracles" hit No. 1 on the Billboard Top 200 chart in 1994 and remains the best-selling holiday album of all time, according to the Web site.
