  1. Hunt forces elk to change migration pattern

In this Star-Tribune file photo, a bull elk moves south along a ridge at sunrise in Jackson Hole. Wildlife managers are pleased with the results of a new hunt on the southern end of the National Elk Refuge, which has led the animals to linger longer on a range in Grand Teton National Park and helped preserve winter forage on the refuge. 5. Wild Art

A lone bull elk walks along the western boundary of the National Elk Refuge at sunset recently. Mild weather conditions have stalled the elk migration to the refuge, to the chagrin of elk hunters in Grand Teton National Park and the refuge near Jackson.
