Life After Loss support begins September 10
Life After Loss is a support group for people who have lost a loved one to suicide. This is a 10-week program designed to help you navigate the troubled waters of this time. The class starts Tuesday, September 10, 2019, at the Highland Park Community Church, 5725 Highland Dr. at 6 p.m. in room 1327. August specials at Bargain Basement
Men’s clothing, glassware, place mats, bed skirts and all green tag items are on sale at half off the marked tags at the Bargain Basement throughout August. Blue tag items are excluded from this sale, but all clothing with yellow tags are reduced to fifty cents each.
Located in the basement of the United Church of Christ on the corner of 15th Street and South Melrose, the Bargain Basement is open Thursday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. There is a large variety of baby and children’s clothing, t-shirts, several sizes of three-ring binders, books, household items, magazines, puzzles, toys and jewelry. Proceeds from the Bargain Basement are donated to help support a number of nonprofit organizations.
Better Breathers August 22
The next Better Breathers support group will meet from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Thursday, August 22, at the Nerd Health and Wellness Center at Wyoming Medical Center, 1233 E. Second St.
This month will be a presentation on “Evaluating Lung Disease,” presented by Dr. Ron Gooder.
Designed by the American Lung Association, the Better Breathers is a support group for patients with chronic lung diseases and their caregivers. It offers tools and encouragement for managing COPD, pulmonary fibrosis, asthma, lung cancer and other chronic lung disorders. It is locally facilitated by the NERD Health and Wellness Center.
The Better Breathers meets on the fourth Thursday of every month and offers presentations on exercise, breathing techniques, supplemental oxygen and general medication education, among other topics. For questions or to sign up for the Better Breathers Club, call 577-2931.
After hours gardening help
Natrona County Master Gardeners are holding after-hours plant diagnostic clinics from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Thursdays, August 29 and September 26 in the Mills Room of the Agricultural Resource and Learning Center, 2011 Fairgrounds Rd.
Master Gardeners are trained horticulture volunteers available to help diagnose landscape or house plant issues and provide control solutions. Insect or other pest identifications will also be available.
They can help other gardeners know how to grow plants in the difficult, dry High Plains desert conditions, said Donna Hoffman, University of Wyoming Extension agriculture and horticulture educator in Natrona County.

Eagles fair seeks vendors
Casper Eagles Auxiliary is hosting its Annual Fall Craft and Vendor Fair September 21 and 22 in the newly renovated Annex (formerly the Eagle Bowl bowling alley). Organizers are seeking vendors and crafters for the event. The cost is $40 for a 10 by 10 space with one table and two chairs. Each additional table is $25. All money raised goes to support Eagles Auxiliary various charities. Packets are available from event chairperson Jackie Walthers.
