Women in the Word orientation

Women in the Word is for any woman, regardless of age, background or faith, who wants to grow in God’s Word and learn and share with other like-minded women.

Make plans now to attend one of the following orientations at 9:15 a.m., at Highland Park Community Church, beginning Wednesday and every Wednesday during the 2019-20 school year except November 27, December 18 through January 20. The last orientation is March 25.

The group meets from 9:15 to 10:45 a.m., beginning September 11, taking an in-depth look at the books of 1 & 2 Corinthians.

Sack lunch bible study

Starting Wednesday, Bethel Baptist Church is sponsoring sack lunch bible studies the first Wednesday of every month through December. These will feature local pastors and Christian leaders presenting special areas of study and expertise.The first presenter is Jace Cloud from Cornerstone Church whose subject is Doxological Missiology: Theory, Motivation, and Practice, exploring the question of what does it mean to do something for the glory of God? We meet at Bethel Baptist Church, 3030 S. Poplar, from noon to 1 p.m. Bring your own lunch and the church will provide the beverages. Phone the church office at 234-8812 for further information.

Wednesday Writers

The Natrona County Library’s monthly Wednesday Writers group will meet at 10 a.m. Open to all writers—from those just picking up a pencil through published authors—offering encouragement, inspiration, and motivation. Please join us for feedback, critiquing, and general discussion. If you’d like, bring some of your writing to share with the group. Call 577-7323 for more information.

After school at the library

The Natrona County Library is hosting a Lego Challenge for students in grades K-5 on Wednesday at 4 p.m. Students will use library-provided bricks to build their most fantastical Lego creations during this time. All supplies provided at no cost. Call 577-7323 for more information.

Chicken fried steak at Elks

Wednesday Night Special at the Casper Elks Lodge is chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes, green beans and corn. All you can eat for $7, children 5 to 12 are $3, serving from 6 to 7 p.m. or until gone. Members, significant other and guest accompanied by a member. For more information, call 234-4839. Proceeds go to the many Elks Charities.

Compassionate Friends meets

The Central Wyoming Chapter of the Compassionate Friends, a non-profit, self-help support organization for parents who are grieving the death of a child of any age and from any cause, will have its fall meeting from 7 to 9 p.m., on Wednesday, September 4, at the Natrona County Public Library in the Crawford Room in the library’s basement.
