Exhibits to close at UW Art Museum

There’s still time to see two temporary exhibitions closing this month at the University of Wyoming Art Museum.

“New Acquisitions: The Art Museum Collection” on display through Aug. 17 features important pieces the museum has acquired over the last year for its permanent collection, including art by African-American artist Kara Walker, Iranian artist Shirin Neshat and Ponca artist Julie Buffalohead.

“Western Explorations: The Wyoming Arts Council Biennial Fellowship Exhibition 2018 and 2019” on view through Aug. 31 features art by the Wyoming artists selected as Visual Arts Fellowship recipients. The artists include Elaine Henry from Big Horn, Robert Martinez from Riverton, Andy Kincaid of Wilson and Laramie artists Joe Arnold, Margaret Haydon and Patrick Kikut.

Where: UW Art Museum, Centennial Complex, 2111 E. Willett Drive, Laramie

When: Hours are 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays with Thursday extended to 7 p.m.
