OKLAHOMA CITY -- Former Casper residents, John and Barbara Erickson, will celebrate 70 loving years of marriage on December 20, 2017.
They were married December 20, 1947, in the Salem Lutheran Church, Moline, Illinois. They honeymooned in Des Moines, Iowa. Both were graduates of Augustana College in Rock Island, Illinois. After making homes in both Illinois and Iowa and having two boys, they moved to Casper in 1951.
Casper was the childhood home to the family of eight children, Steve, Jack, Paul, Joel, Lael, Andrea, Mahlon and Vince, until May of 1965, when John, a geologist for Gulf Oil, was transferred from Casper to Oklahoma City.
While in Casper, they attended Our Saviour's Lutheran Church and have only the best of memories from various Casper schools, neighborhoods, streams and surrounding mountain campgrounds.
The Ericksons still reside in Oklahoma City. They have eight children, 13 grandchildren and 11 great- grandchildren.
