Funeral services for Betty Jane Dilts, 94, will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, December 13, 2016 at the First United Methodist Church in Douglas, Wyoming with Pastor Donnie Holt officiating. Interment will be in the Douglas Park Cemetery.

Betty Dilts passed away at her home on Thursday, December 8, 2016 surrounded by her family following a brief illness.

She was born Tuesday, September 12, 1922 in Douglas, Wyoming the daughter of Gene Longley and Golda Amanda (Kimble) Payne.

She was reared and educated in Douglas. She was married to John Calvin Dilts on December 31, 1947 in San Leandro, California. They were married nearly 69 years.

After her graduation Betty studied music at Christian College in Columbia, Missouri before moving to San Francisco, California, where she worked as a secretary. Not long after John arrived in California with both he and Betty’s parents and they were married. John then brought his new bride back to Douglas where they began their new life together. They raised three boys, Jack, Jerry, and Steve on the family ranch north of Douglas.

Betty was a member of the Douglas Sorority and the Red Hat Club. She was an avid bridge player with her friends for many years and had a love for the game of golf. Betty found the most joy in her family and cherished the time she could spend with them. In her later years she found such joy in the lives of her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, John Calvin Dilts of Douglas, Wyoming; sons, Jack (Ludmilla) Dilts of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Jerry (Liz) Dilts of Riverton, Wyoming, and Steve (Tracy) Dilts of Douglas; grandchildren, Wade (Kaley) Orr of Polvadera, New Mexico, Russel (Linda) Orr of Belen, New Mexico, Morgan (Jeremy) Gaco of Belen, New Mexico, Lindsey (Brett) Moniz of Laramie, Wyoming, Erin (Colby) Thomas of Helena, Montana, Brandon (Riley) Dilts of Wright, Wyoming, Jenne Dilts of Douglas, Wyoming, Taylor Dilts of Douglas, Wyoming, and Kristi (Derek) Bohlander of Douglas, Wyoming, Makayla (Jordan) Mette of Casper, Wyoming, Alyona (Ray Guardara) Koneva of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Lillya Koneva of Albuquerque, New Mexico; great grandchildren, Brylee Gaco, Jace and Carson Moniz, Kira, Mackenzie, and Harper Thomas, Nora Bohlander, Andre Koneva-Mehta, and Lucas Post.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Golda Payne, on September 9, 1956; her father, Gene L. Payne Sr., on January 25, 1984; stepmother, Ferne S. Payne, on October 28, 1998; her brothers, Kimble F. Payne on May 15, 1920 and Gene L. Payne, Jr .on September 14, 2015; and her sister, Shirley Ann Payne, on November 17, 1941.

Serving as pallbearers will be Brandon Dilts, Taylor Dilts, Wade Orr, Russel Orr, Mac Payne, and Chris Payne.

Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 9:00 A.M. to 11:30 A.M.

A memorial to the Fred and Elnora Dilts Memorial Scholarship Fund in care of the Gorman Funeral Homes-Converse Chapel, P.O. Box X, Douglas, Wyoming 82633 would be appreciated by the family.
