CASPER—Donald E. Wentz was born to Nellie Gertrude Tindle and Joseph Jack Wentz on July 14, 1936 in Omaha Nebraska. Don was one of 12 children born to his parents.
Don was known for his charismatic demeanor and the ability to bring a smile to anyone’s face with his sarcastic yet funny quips. He was an accomplished dancer and was well known for his square dancing with his sister Darlene who was lovingly nicknamed by her younger brother Don as “Darlin”.
Don met Elwanda Burke in the fall of 1999 at the Avalon Club, where they shared their love of dancing and in her words “Had a grand Ole time together”. They were later married at Elwanda’s home in Casper by the JP in a small ceremony with Elwanda’s Mother Sarah Bandy in attendance.
Don was a member of the Eagle’s where he and Elwanda spent a great deal of time together after they met and married listening to live music and dancing.
He was preceded in death by two sisters; eight brothers; and his parents.
Don is survived by his sister, Darlene Hackworth; and four daughters, Maiva, Waiva, “Lil” Dawn, and Diana; and ten grandchildren; as well as numerous great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Don will be greatly missed by his beloved wife Elwanda and all his family and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, January 11, 2019 at Bustard’s Funeral Chapel in Casper. Interment will be at Memorial Gardens Cemetery following the service.
