Joellen Shirley “Jodi” (Carubie) Garner

RENO, Nev.—Jodi was born April 3, 1948 to Louis and Shirley (Purcel) Carubie in Casper, Wyoming. She passed away May 8, 2019. She attended St. Anthony’s School and graduated from Natrona County High School in 1966. She later graduated Casper College with a degree in Education. She was working as a Ward Clerk in the ICU at Natrona County Memorial Hospital when she was introduced to the love of her life – Russ Garner. They were married December 10, 1976. Russ’ work took them all over the western United States until they settled in Winnemucca, Nevada where they have lived for the last 30 years.

Jodi was the CEO of her home where she was a homemaker and certainly the boss while raising her three children. She ran a tight ship. She was also a substitute teacher during her children’s school years.

Her and Russ loved to travel, her favorite place was also the ‘Happiest Place on Earth’ – Disneyland. The family trip in 2008, with the entire family, was perfect.

She is survived by her husband of 42 years; her mother, Shirley Carubie of Casper, WY; and her children, Melissa (David) Gardner of El Paso, TX, Timothy (Katie) of Winnemucca, NV, and Sara (Tyler) Roses of Mulino, OR; stepchildren, Juli (Douglas) Hauber of Rozet, WY, and Brian of Battle Mountain, NV; sisters, Barbara (Chip) Wangelin of Pocatello, ID, and Sandi Carubie of Casper WY; brother, Thomas Carubie of Casper, WY; seven grandsons; and two granddaughters who loved their Nana.

She was preceded in death by her father, Louis Carubie; and sister, Cynthia Garner.

Per her request, there will be no services.
