Larry L. Jones
SINCLAIR - Larry was born in Dixon Wyoming to Dayton C. and Jean H. Jones. He grew up in Sinclair, Wyoming and graduated from Rawlins High School in 1953. He completed technical training in electronics in Denver. He served two years in the United States Army as a skiing and climbing instructor for the Cold Weather Command. The majority of this time was at Camp Hale Colorado.
He began his career with Mountain Bell in the radio shop and installing telephones in Casper, WY. He then became the US West manager in Midwest, Kemmerer, and Wheatland, WY. He finished his career with US West in Cheyenne as state wide quality assurance manager and equipment engineer. He took early retirement in 1990. Upon retirement he returned to Sinclair.
Larry married Margaret Schmidt in 1961 having six children. Larry always took great care of his children and grandchildren. Taking care of kids was always “Top Priority” for him.
He is survived by six children, Daniel, Janice, Bonnie, Audrey, Dayton, and Elaine; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in the death by his parents and two siblings, Thomas and Caroline.
Larry always loved his hunting and fishing trips that Wyoming afforded him. Taking early retirement gave him the opportunity to pursue this passion. A favorite of Larry's was the annual summer family camp out at Brush Creek in the Snowy Range; always with a campfire and fish for breakfast.
Larry was buried at the Reader Cemetery in Savery, Wyoming with the Jones family.
The family would like to thank the staffs of the Rawlins and Sunrise at Pinehurst (Denver) nursing homes for their wonderful care of our father during his long battle with Alzheimer disease.
In lieu of flowers, please send any donations in memory of Larry to the Parco/Sinclair Museum, P.O. Box 247, Sinclair, WY 82334.
