Whipps engagement

BASIN — Jim and Bonnie Whipps will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on July 26.

They met while on strike against Mountain Bell Telephone Company in 1968 and married on July 26 soon after.

They lived in Casper with their combined three sons, Gene, Bob and Jimmy. They stayed in Casper to finish their jobs and retire, he with AT&T and she with the Small Business Administration in 1995.

They moved to Basin to be close to his parents and started to develop their land and raise horses for a hobby. They even managed to sell a few.

Their secret to staying together so long is faith in each other.

They have one granddaughter, Jennifer Ryner; five grandsons, Matthew, Nicholas, Christopher, Jonathan and Zachery Whipps; great-grandsons Breaden and Bennett; and a great-granddaughter, Breonna Ryner; and two wonderful daughters-in-law, Patricia Whipps-Stricker and Kiley Whipps.
