A Colorado man died Friday when his truck rolled several times along U.S. Highway 20/26 west of Casper, the Wyoming Highway Patrol reported.
Manuel Otero, 25, was killed after he drove off the highway, touching off a sequence that ended with his pickup sliding and then rolling along the highway.
Authorities are investigating speed and alcohol as contributing factors in the crash, according to the highway patrol. Otero was wearing a seat belt.
The crash took place at about 3:15 p.m. Friday while Otero was driving a Nissan pickup. He failed to negotiate a left turn in the highway and drove completely off the road, the highway patrol said.
Otero turned hard back to the left and the pickup drove back onto the road before beginning to slide. As Otero overcorrected the truck to the right, it went off the left side of the road.
The driver’s side tires dug into the dirt of a roadside ditch, and the pickup rolled several times, according to the highway patrol.
