2019 parade route released

The parade route for the July 9 Central Wyoming Fair & Rodeo parade has changed significantly, with the parade beginning near David Street Station at West Yellowstone and Ash streets.

The parade, which begins at 10 a.m. and is an annual summer occurrence, now travels east on West Yellowstone and Second Street to Beech, turns south to Collins Drive and remains on Collins to Center, where it concludes at Ninth Street (Park Elementary School).

The new route essentially cuts several blocks off the beginning of the traditional parade route, which in the past began at the intersection of A and North Center streets, passing the county courthouse, the Townsend Justice Center and the block of small businesses located on Center between First and Second streets.

The Casper Police Department recently announced the changes.

“The new route greatly increases safety for those participating in and observing the parade,” said Rebekah Ladd, CPD public information officer.

Public parking will be available in the lot bordered by Ash and David and Midwest and Collins.

Handicapped parking will be available at 222 East Collins in the old Plains Furniture parking lot, while parade handicapped viewing will be on Collins between Wolcott and Durbin.
