Casper police arrested a suspect Saturday after a man accused his girlfriend of beating him, according to an arrest report.
Miguel Alberto Martinez is charged with felony domestic battery. Domestic battery is typically a misdemeanor, but authorities enhanced the charge because Martinez has previous domestic assault convictions.
Martinez faces up to five years in prison if convicted on the charge.
Police responded about 1:40 a.m. to a home on Durbin Street after a man reported two people were fighting, according to the report.
Officers found a man “covered from his face to his feet in blood,” the report states. There was a blood trail from the front door to a bedroom in the home.
In the bedroom, officers found more blood on the floor and the bed. Martinez was lying on the bed and told police the victim had fallen and hit his head.
Officers saw blood on Martinez’s hands. They were also red and swollen, which is “consistent with being in a fight,” the report states. Martinez was uninjured.
The victim was taken to Wyoming Medical Center for treatment. Martinez was taken to the Natrona County Detention Center.
