An elementary school librarian and a career technical education teacher both earned statewide recognition, the Natrona County School District announced Monday.

Ginny Nading, a librarian at Journey Elementary, earned the 2019 Wyoming Celebrate Literacy award. Joseph Martinez, a CTE teacher at Roosevelt, was named new CTE teacher of the year for Wyoming. Martinez is beginning his first year at Roosevelt; he spent four years at Dean Morgan Middle School before moving to the west Casper school.

Martinez will now be eligible to compete for regional recognition.

Nading has been with the district for 13 years, the past six as a librarian, according to the district.

“This award means so much to me. It was humbling to be nominated, let alone be a recipient,” Nading said in a statement. “I think literacy is so important to everyone, whether it is for pleasure, research, or work. Literacy is a functional life skill that we all need to have. I love being able to share my love of reading to my students, all 400 and some, through different tones and excitement.”
