Central Wyoming College

Cristobal Valdez, currently president of a community college in Ohio, has been hired as the new president of Central Wyoming College in Riverton, the college announced Tuesday.

Valdez will replace outgoing president Jo Anne McFarland, who will retire this summer after leading the college since 1989.

He earned a bachelor's degree in social work from the University of Montana and a master's in social work at Eastern Washington University in Cheney, Washington. Valdez completed a doctorate in education at Oregon State University.

His contract with Central Wyoming College begins July 14, the college said in a release. Valdez will receive $170,500 in annual salary, a $12,000 housing allowance and a $6,000 car allowance. The board also approved $20,000 in moving expenses, according to the release.
