GILLETTE — Boyd Brown has been offered the position as superintendent of the largest school district in Wyoming.
The Campbell County School District superintendent, who announced his retirement at the end of February, didn’t expect to find a new job in Wyoming.
He wanted to continue in education after 30 years in Campbell County, but thought he’d have to leave the Cowboy State to find a position.
Instead, once he heard Superintendent John Lyttle was retiring from the Laramie County School District 1, he applied for the position.
On Monday afternoon, the Cheyenne district announced that Brown has accepted an offer for a contract as new superintendent.
The school board in Cheyenne is expected to approve the hiring in its meeting May 7.
