Two Wyomingites, including a Casper resident, died after a one-vehicle rollover Tuesday morning near Wheatland, Wyoming Highway Patrol announced Monday morning.
David J. Cunningham, 35, of Casper and Andrea Garner, 45, of Lusk died at the scene of the crash. Shane M. Moser, 24, of Casper and Ashley Wall, 26, of Casper were injured in the crash and have been taken to Platte County Memorial Hospital.
Moser, the driver, and Wall, the front-seat passenger, were wearing seat belts. Back-seat passengers Cunningham and Garner were not.
Moser was driving north on Interstate 25 when he drifted into the median at the Highway 34 interchange, according to the news release. The car "vaulted between" the bridge decks there, according to the online crash summary, hitting the west side of the northbound deck and landing below on its roof on Highway 34. Patrol troopers were dispatched around 7:49 a.m. to the crash near milepost 73 south of Wheatland.
Driver fatigue is being investigated as a possible contributing factor, the announcement said.
Ninety-six people have died on Wyoming highways this year, compared to 61 in this point in 2018, 83 in 2017 and 53 in 2016.
