A man is in custody after police believe he shot and killed another man in Sheridan late Wednesday night.
Christopher Macloughlin Labuy, 33, was arrested during the night and is currently being held as the sole suspect in the case, according to a press release from the Sheridan Police Department. Labuy is being held at the Sheridan County Detention Center.
Police received a call around 11:15 p.m. Wednesday that a homicide had occurred at an apartment building at 1410 N. Main St.
A man at the apartment told officers that his friend, Labuy, had knocked on his door and told him he’d shot another man in the building.
Officers and medical responders found the victim, who was already dead.
Officers booked Labuy into jail on anticipated charges of murder in the first degree, the release states.
There is no danger to the community, police said.
Labuy is expected to make his initial court appearance in Sheridan County Circuit Court at 2 p.m. Thursday.
