TORRINGTON (WNE) — Torrington’s proposed new assisted living facility is $3 million closer to its goal.
The Wyoming Business Council Board of Directors last week approved a request from the Goshen Care Center Joint Powers Board for a Business Ready Community grant to aid in constructing a 23,980 square-foot, 30-unit facility on a three-acre site in Torrington.
The project will total approximately $7 million and provide 15 or more jobs through Welcov Healthcare, LLC, which will operate and maintain the facility.
Welcov currently operates the Goshen Healthcare Community and Evergreen Court Living Centers.
The Wyoming Business Council board is required by statute to forward Business Ready Community grant and loan recommendations to the State Loan and Investment Board for final approval.
The SLIB is comprised of the five statewide elected officials: the governor, secretary of state, state auditor, state treasurer and state superintendent of public instruction.
If it receives final approval, the assisted living facility is expected to break ground next summer, with plans to open its doors in 2020.
