As a native of Casper, now living in North Carolina, I keep tabs on various events in my hometown. I have been following the events with the Mills Fire Department with some interest. In a recent article on the K2 News Facebook page, I was appalled by Darla Ives retort. "I don't have to answer to you to say what I have to say: I voted for the best person."
This statement Ms. Ives, is the EXACT problem with have in politics today. Be it at a Federal, State, County or Municipality level. Yes, as an ELECTED official, you are indeed accountable to explain to your constituents why you voted a given way. You owe the people of Mills an explanation, an apology, and a resignation letter, in that order. If you do not, I would encourage the citizens of Mills to petition your immediate recall. We live in an accountable representative republic, not a dictatorship as the council and mayor are trying to turn Mills into. Explain your actions, apologize for them, and step down.
