IDAHO FALLS, Idaho (AP) — Family members have identified the man who died Friday after an avalanche in eastern Idaho near the Wyoming border.

A sister says Tommy Hawkins, of Layton, Utah, was killed as he was riding snowmobiles with three other adults in the Cabin Creek area on Fog Mountain near Victor, Idaho.

Angela Spencer says Hawkins was a former resident of Victor and a Teton High School graduate, the East Idaho News reports.

The Bonneville County Sheriff's Office says the risk of avalanche is high right now, and back country travelers and recreationists should use extreme caution.

Bonneville County Sheriff's Sgt. Bryan Lovell says three adults were riding snowmobiles in the area when the avalanche occurred.

Hawkins was overcome by the slide, but the two others were able to summon help just after 6 p.m.
