The Casper College basketball teams return to the court Saturday when they host Laramie County Community College.

Both Thunderbirds’ teams are coming off victories in their Region IX openers, with the women’s team defeating Central Wyoming College 81-53 and the No. 10 men’s team rolling to a 118-72 victory over Central Wyoming.

The men’s team (16-1, 1-0) is averaging 106.7 points per game while allowing just 69.9 points per contest.

Five T-Birds are averaging double-digit points, led by sophomore guard Isaac Bonton at 20.3 ppg and sophomore forward Wilfried Likayi at 17.4. In Wednesday’s victory, Bonton (26) and Likayi (18) combined for 44 points, with Broc Finstuen (19), Amin Adamu (19), James Hampshire (13) and Philip Pepple Jr. (10) also notching double figures.

The Laramie County CC men (8-9, 1-0) opened Region IX play with a 75-59 victory over Northwest College.

In the earlier game, the Casper College women (12-4, 1-0) bring a four-game winning streak into the contest.

Sophomore Lucie Hoskova leads the T-Birds in scoring (16.3 ppg) and leads Region IX in rebounding (8.9 rpg). Sophomore Jaye Johnson (Natrona County) averages 10.6 ppg.

Laramie County CC (10-6, 1-0) defeated Northwest 90-72 on Thursday.

The doubleheader begins with the women’s game at 2 p.m. followed by the men’s game at 4 p.m. Both games are at Swede Erickson Thunderbird Gym.
