The Casper College basketball teams begin Region IX play Wednesday when they host Central Wyoming College at Swede Erickson Thunderbird Gym. The women’s game tips off at 5:30 p.m., followed by the men’s game at 7:30 p.m.

The T-Birds’ men’s team, which moved up to No. 10 in the NJCAA rankings released Tuesday, brings a six-game winning streak and a 15-1 overall record into the game. Casper College is averaging 106.0 points per game, with six players averaging in double figures.

Isaac Bonton leads the way with 19.8 points per game, followed by Wilfried Likayi (17.3), Amin Adamu (13.8), Braxton Bertolette (13.7), Broc Finstuen (10.9) and Philip Pepple Jr. (10.5).

Central Wyoming College is 5-10 on the season, but six of the losses have been to Top 25 teams — two each to No. 13 College of Southern Idaho, No. 22 Snow College and No. 23 Western Nebraska Community College.

For the women, Casper College (11-4) is coming off a 83-63 victory over Western Nebraska CC on Monday in which the T-Birds outscored the Cougars 26-10 in the fourth quarter. Sophomore center Nerea Baena went off for 26 points and a career-high 20 rebounds in the victory.

Sophomore Lucie Hoskova paces the T-Birds with 16.5 points and a Region IX-best 8.5 rebounds per game. Sophomore Jaye Johnson (Natrona County) is averaging 10.9 ppg, while Maggie Justinak (Rock Springs) is at 9.2 ppg and Baena at 8.5.
