Casper College men's basketball coach Dan Russell tabbed New Mexico Junior College assistant coach Shaun Gutting as the Thunderbirds new assistant coach, the team announced on Wednesday.

The vacancy became available after former T-Birds assistant Tyler Hurley left Casper College for an assistant coaching job at New Mexico JC.

Gutting spent four seasons as an assistant coach at New Mexico JC. During his time there, the program had a 90-37 record, made the regional tournament every year and advanced to the National Junior College Athletic Association tournament.

New Mexico JC sent 29 players to NCAA Division I schools during Gutting's time.
