Chase Winchester scored a career-high 28 points to lead the Casper College men's basketball team to an 84-79 victory over Western Nebraska Community College on Monday in Casper.

The sophomore guard was 8-of-15 from the field, including 2-of-5 on 3-pointers, and made 10 of 12 free throws for the Thunderbirds.

The T-Birds (12-4), playing their first game since Dec. 15, jumped out to a 44-31 halftime lead and held on for their third win in a row. Casper College also avenged a 102-70 loss to the Cougars back on Dec. 5.

Wilfried Likayi added 18 points and 10 rebounds and Levy Miguel Mayunga pitched in 11 points off the bench.

The T-Birds play at Little Big Horn College on Thursday to begin Region IX North play.
