No. 18 Casper College women's basketball team improves to 9-1


The No. 18 Casper College women's basketball team began its toughest stretch of the season to this point with a 66-59 victory over Northwest College on Thursday at the Thanksgiving Classic in Sheridan.

Playing the first of four games in five days, the Thunderbirds (9-1) built a 29-22 halftime lead and held off the Trappers.

Sophomore point guard Raquel Ferrer-Bernad led the T-Birds with 12 points, with freshman Marija Bakic adding 11 and sophomore Mya Jones 10. Freshman Juneau Jones, Mya's sister, had eight points, eight rebounds and six assists. Mya Jones also grabbed eight rebounds.

Casper College plays the Rocky Mountain College JV on Saturday before taking on Trinidad State Junior College on Monday in Trinidad, Colorado.
