No. 23 Casper College women's basketball team improves to 5-0


The 23rd-ranked Casper College women's basketball team remained unbeaten with a 71-57 victory over Northeastern Junior College in the first game of the Pizza Hut Invitational on Thursday at Swede Erickson Thunderbird Gym.

The T-Birds (5-0) led 31-19 at the half but took control in the third quarter when they outscored the Plainsmen 28-9.

Natalia Otkhmezuri had a season-high 22 points to lead Casper College, while Nazli Bayazit and Reka Soos added 11 points apiece. Mya Jones pitched in nine points and eight rebounds.

The T-Birds 8 of 14 3-pointers in the second half and shot 40.7 percent from deep for the game.

Casper College hosts Snow College on Friday and Central Wyoming College on Saturday.
