The Casper Horseheads concluded their home series against the Badlands Big Sticks with wins Wednesday and Thursday — 10-7 and 10-8, respectively — at Mike Lansing Field.
In Wednesday's game, a combined nine runs in the sixth and seventh innings made the difference for the Horseheads. Bradley Polinsky picked up four hits and scored three times, while Roberto Diaz drove in three runs for Casper. The Horseheads were outhit by Badlands 14-12, but Daniel Zaldivar earned the win with three innings of relief. He allowed three runs, one earned, on six hits with five strikeouts.
Thursday's game again saw the Badlands (25-14) tally more hits, 12, than the Horseheads (18-19), who had 10. But a pair of four-run innings paced Casper to the win. Jake Brown led all hitters with five RBI. Starter Alex Clouthier earned the win, pitching 5 1/3 innings with four strikeouts and six earned runs on eight hits allowed.
After a doubleheader Friday against the Western Nebraska Pioneers, the Horseheads host the Souris Valley Sabre Dogs for games on Saturday and Sunday.
