Casper Horseheads

Five current Casper Horseheads were selected to represent the team and play in the Expedition League's second All-Star Game next week, the league announced on Wednesday.

Nick Roach, Jackson Collins, Robert Anthony Cruz, Bradley Polinsky and Jake Brown will all compete in next week's all-star contest in Minot, North Dakota, on July 16. Collins will also compete in the Home Run Derby the night before.

That news came a day after the Horseheads' next-to-last road trip of the season got off to a bad start as they suffered a 5-4 defeat to the Fremont Moo on Tuesday in Fremont, Nebraska.

The Horseheads (19-23) took a 3-2 lead in the sixth inning as Jake Brown hit a solo home run, Luis Alcantara had an RBI single and Chris Giovengo drove in another run with a sacrifice fly. But Casper starting pitcher McGrane Pledger gave up a three-run homer to Peter Carlson in the bottom of the inning to give the Moo (15-22) the lead for good.

Brown, who went 4-for-5, added another solo shot in the ninth but it wasn't enough. Brown, who also hit two solo home runs in Casper's previous game on Sunday, leads the Horseheads with eight home runs.
