Taubert at Big XII championships

Kansas State's Lauren Taubert, a graduate of Natrona County High School, competes in the javelin toss in the heptathlon at the Big XII Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Saturday in Norman, Oklahoma.

Kansas State junior Lauren Taubert had a solid weekend at the Big XII Outdoor Track & Field Championships over the weekend in Norman, Oklahoma.

Taubert, a Natrona County High School graduate, started her weekend with a runner-up finish in the heptathlon in which she set a personal record with 5,770 points. Taubert is now seventh in the NCAA rankings and has earned a spot in the NCAA Championships on June 5-8 in Austin, Texas.

Taubert then placed second in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 58.10 seconds. That mark moved her to fifth on Kansas State-s all-time list and qualified her for the NCAA West Regional.

She capped her weekend by running a leg on the Wildcats' 4x400 relay team that placed eighth. Kansas State finished second to Texas in the team standings.
