For the third consecutive day this week the University of Wyoming women’s club ski team finished third in the team standings of an event at the United States Collegiate Ski & Snowboard Association National Championships held in Jackson’s Trail Creek Nordic Center.
The women finished a distant third in Friday’s 15km freestyle mass start with 36 points to first-place Clarkson’s 11 and second-place St. Olaf’s 15.
Natrona County graduate Kit-Kat Gruner led the Cowgirls with an 11th-place finish, clocking in at 46 minutes, 15.10 seconds. Laramie graduate Ella DeWolf came in 14th, Jackson’s Sydney Wiswell finished 34 seconds later in 16th, Natrona County graduate Madison Tinker finished 18th, and the Lander duo of Morgan Robins and Kailee Behunin placed 34th and 37th, respectively.
The Cowboys’ club team, meanwhile, finished sixth in the team standings for the 15km freestyle mass start. Natrona County graduate Trevor Willoughby once again had the team’s best finish at 11th. Willoughby’s final time registered at 38 minutes, 26.5 seconds. Jackson native Matthew Williams finished 2 minutes behind at 16th, Lander’s Silas Goetz finished 22nd, and Sheridan native Benjamin Romanjenko placed 34th.
All that remains for the two Nordic teams is the classic team sprint, which is scheduled to begin early Saturday.
